Here at Northallerton Hockey Club, we take our safeguarding responsibilities towards our members incredibly seriously. At a recent committee meeting we reaffirmed this commitment by signing up to England Hockey's newest safeguarding policy, SafeGuard.

So what's this all about? England Hockey give the following guidance.

What do we mean by safeguarding young people?

‘The action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm’ - NSPCC.

Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child (reporting procedures).

We all have a role in to play in safeguarding young people and a responsibility to create environments where young people feel safe, have a voice and trust that the people around them are acting in their best interests, so that they can thrive.
